Description

Fancy Purse is one of the usable Trinkets found in Dandy's World and is a Twisted Trinket. It was added on July 12, 2024, alongside Diary, Feather Duster, Participation Award, Pop Pack, and Pull Toy. It is obtained by achieving 100% Research on Twisted Teagan.

The icon appears as a golden-yellow purse with 2 sparkles on the left and 3 sparkles on the right. Its handles are connected by fancy, gold clasps that appear to be made of metal. The handles' length suggests it is to be held rather than worn.

Strategies

Fancy Purse can help Toons that use Tapes for their Abilities — specifically Teagan, Ginger, and Sprout — by letting them use their Ability immediately after entering a run without having to collect extra Tapes. However, the flat amount of Tapes is only enough for one use of their Abilities. Additionally, Sprout and Ginger's Active Abilities become more expensive the more players running those Toons are in the run, so you will have to collect more Tapes to satisfy the cost. This strategy is best used in short runs where a large Tape stack is less likely.

Another use for this Trinket is buying early Bandages or Health Kits. This helps any Toon in general, especially Cosmo, as it would allow him to extend his Ability to 4 heals very early in the run. Unfortunately, this strategy relies on a valuable Item appearing in Dandy's Shop in early Floors, which is unlikely, and only gaining 1-2 extra heals is not often worth the Trinket slot.

Overall, due to the Trinket only activating once at the start of the run, and the fact that Tapes are very easy to accumulate (you can get over 150 Tapes by Floor 2 in a solo run without any Trinkets), as well as the fact that it is outclassed by Dandy Plush, Fancy Purse is not recommended to use aside from specific Mastery quests.

Trivia

• Fancy Purse is the second Trinket to give Tapes, with the first being Coin Purse. This is likely due to both being purses, as well as Fancy Purse being a better version of Coin Purse, though harder to earn.
• Fancy Purse used to lower your Extraction Speed by 3% (along with giving you 100 Tapes) but was later changed in v0.3.0.
• There is a popular misconception that buying from Dandy's Elevator Shop increases the chance of Main Twisteds spawning. Buying from it does NOT increase that chance; it only prevents Twisted Dandy from spawning.
• Fancy Purse's mechanic is a reference to Teagan's Ability costing Tapes, and Twisted Teagan's mechanic of stealing Tapes from a Toon when damaging them.
