Description
Fishing Rod is one of the usable Trinkets found in Dandy's World and is a Twisted Trinket. It was added on August 14, 2024, alongside Blushy Bat, Savory Charm, Sweet Charm, and Vanity Mirror. It is obtained by achieving 100% Research on Twisted Finn.
It appears to be a regular fishing rod with an orange handle that has black stripes, resembling Finn's life jacket, and a light blue fish attached where the hook should be.
Strategies
Fishing Rod is not worth using unless you are going on a shorter run. It may be slightly useful for any sort of use-Item Mastery, but the major downside is that its ability works once, just like Fancy Purse. You are not able to use it after the beginning of a game, causing you to waste a Trinket slot.
Additionally, the range of items it can give you is extremely limited, being only Common to Rare items (not including Dandy's Shop exclusive Items). You are very likely to obtain less useful Items early and lose a Trinket slot for the rest of the game. The best thing you can pull is a Bandage, which can help with Cosmo, Looey, and Poppy's Mastery Quests for using or activating their Abilities, but it does not get better than that. Considering you can also buy Bandages and even Health Kits pre-game for a small Ichor fee, Fishing Rod can simply be swapped for a Trinket that benefits you much more in the long run.
Bassie receives a slight niche from this Trinket, allowing her to distribute some Items, but she is more likely to find better Items on the floor or in Dandy's Shop. Overall, do not use this Trinket unless you want a challenge, specific Mastery, or are going for a quick run.
Trivia
- Fishing Rod is similar to Crayon Set, the Trinket earned from 100% Research on Twisted Scraps. Prior to Fishing Rod's release, Crayon Set functioned almost the same, except it only gave the user a head-start of 3 Uncommon Items.
- When playing as Bassie with Fishing Rod equipped, you will be granted four Items to your inventory instead of three, due to her Passive Ability that gives her an extra inventory slot.
- Fishing Rod is the third Trinket to directly give Items to its user, with the first being Crayon Set, the second being Pop Pack, and the fourth being Megaphone.
- The toy fish on Fishing Rod's hook is not Barnaby Wilikers, Finn's toy fish. The fish in the Trinket's render is light blue, while Barnaby is purple in default.
