Dandy's World Status Effects Guide

Status Effects in Dandy's World alter a Toon's stat potency. There are five Debuffs — Illness, Slow, Tired, Confused, and Dazed — and one Buff, Energized. Each comes in three strengths (I, II, and III), with higher numbers indicating stronger effects. They are applied by Twisteds, Toon Abilities, Trinkets, or Floor Events.

Overview

Status Effects are gameplay mechanics that alter a Toon's stat potency. There are currently five Debuffs — Illness (orange), Slow (yellow), Tired (green), Confused (purple), and Dazed (blue, Twisteds only) — and one Buff, Energized (yellow). Each Status Effect comes in three strengths: I, II, and III, with higher numbers producing stronger effects. According to the BlushCrunch Discord Server, additional Status Effects may be introduced during the full official release of Dandy's World.

Status Effects are applied by Twisteds, Toon Abilities, Trinkets, or Floor Events. Six Twisteds can inflict Status Effects: Twisted Astro, Twisted Bassie (via flowers and vines), Twisted Rodger, Twisted Vee, Twisted Shelly, and Twisted Finn. The only Toon Ability that inflicts a Status Effect is Glisten's Active Ability, which applies Confused III to himself for 10 seconds. The two Floor Events that inflict Status Effects are Ichor Leak (Illness III and Slow I) and Spring Fever (Dazed II, Tired II, and Energized II), with Spring Fever being the only source of any Buff in the game. The Trinkets Soul Sword and Train Whistle are both related to the Slow Debuff — Train Whistle grants immunity to Slowness, while Soul Sword inflicts Slow I on Twisteds.

Ribecca is the only Toon immune to all Debuffs via her Passive Ability. Blot, Connie, Flutter, and Soulvester are immune to Illness and the Slow Debuff from Ichor Puddles specifically, as they are Ichor Leak combat or immune Toons. It is currently impossible to have every Toon-afflicting Status Effect type active at the same time, because Ichor Leaks and Spring Fever — which carry exclusive effects (Illness and Energized respectively) — cannot occur simultaneously.

Debuff Sources and Power

Each Twisted that applies a Debuff does so under specific conditions. Twisted Astro and Twisted Vee are the only Main-type Twisteds that apply Debuffs while actively chasing a Toon — Twisted Bassie's Debuffs come from environmental hazards (vines and flowers) and are technically avoidable. Twisted Rodger was the first source in the game to apply two Debuffs simultaneously, followed by Ichor Leaks and later Twisted Bassie's flowers.

  • Twisted Astro inflicts Tired III every 15 seconds while chasing a Toon; the Debuff lasts 10 seconds.
  • Twisted Rodger inflicts Confused III and Slow III when activated by a Toon.
  • Twisted Vee inflicts Slow II every 10 seconds while chasing a Toon; lasts 6 seconds.
  • Twisted Shelly inflicts Confused I on all Toons if she is on the floor.
  • Twisted Finn inflicts Slow III on a Toon after they complete a Machine for 6 seconds.
  • Twisted Bassie's vines inflict Slow II on contact; her flowers inflict Slow III and Tired II, lingering for 2 seconds after leaving them. Prior to v0.17.1, her flowers slowed Toons by 50% while inside them but this did not count as a formal Debuff.
  • Glisten inflicts Confused III on himself after using his Active Ability for 10 seconds.
  • Ichor Leaks inflict Illness III for 20 seconds and Slow I for 5 seconds on any Toon that walks over an Ichor Puddle (excluding immune Toons). Prior to v0.15.1, Ichor Leaks slowed Toons by 50% while in the puddle but it did not count as a Debuff.
  • Soul Sword inflicts Slow I on Twisteds when they hit the Toon using it; lasts 15 seconds. This does not affect Twisted Blot (including Hands), Twisted Razzle and Dazzle, or Twisted Rodger, as they are considered stationary.
  • Spring Fever constantly inflicts Dazed II (reduces Twisted attention span), Tired II for Toons, and Energized II for both Toons and Twisteds. Spring Fevers are the second way to inflict a Debuff on a Twisted, after Soul Sword.
  • The Treadmill Machine applies a Slow Debuff of 80% when a Skill Check is failed.

Debuff Effects Table

The table below shows the stat each Debuff affects and its power at each strength level.

Debuff Stat Affected Level I Power Level II Power Level III Power
Illness Skill Check size reduction 15% 25% 50%
Slow Movement Speed reduction 15% 25% 50%
Tired Stamina regeneration reduction 25% 50% 75%
Dazed (Twisteds only) Twisted attention span reduction 25% 50% 75%
Confused Extraction Speed reduction 25% 50% 75%
Energized (Buff) Movement Speed increase 25% 50% 75%

Stat Impact by Star Level

The exact stat values produced by each Debuff and Buff depend on the Toon's star level (1 through 5 stars). Higher-star Toons have better base stats, so the absolute impact of a Debuff scales accordingly even though the percentage reduction stays constant. For example, Slow III always reduces Movement Speed by 50%, but a 5-star Toon drops from 20/30 to 10/15 while a 1-star Toon drops from 10/20 to 5/10. The Tired Debuff is especially punishing at higher levels — Tired III reduces Stamina regeneration to just 0.6 per second, meaning a 1-star Toon needs approximately 166 seconds to fully regenerate Stamina compared to roughly 333 seconds for a 5-star Toon with a larger Stamina pool. Confused III is similarly devastating, cutting Extraction Speed to 0.25 at 3 stars, which translates to roughly 180 seconds per extraction compared to the normal 60 seconds.

Stacking Rules

When two Debuffs of the same type but different levels are inflicted, they compound multiplicatively rather than additively. For example, Slow II (25%) and Slow III (50%) together reduce Movement Speed by 62.5% — calculated as 100% minus 25% equals 75%, then 75% minus 50% of 75% equals 37.5%, so total reduction is 62.5%. This multiplicative stacking means that layering multiple levels of the same Debuff never fully reaches a 100% reduction. When two identical Debuffs (same type and same level) are inflicted at different times, they do not compound — the newer application simply refreshes the duration. However, two identical Debuffs inflicted simultaneously do compound. Understanding this distinction is strategically important: if Twisted Finn applies Slow III just as you open Twisted Rodger's capsule (also Slow III), both apply simultaneously and compound, but if one expires before the other triggers, you only suffer a single Slow III.

Trivia

  • Status Effect strengths I, II, and III correspond to the Roman numerals for 1, 2, and 3.
  • Status Effect colors match their corresponding Stats: Illness is orange (Skill Check), Slow and Energized are yellow (Movement Speed), Tired is green (Stamina), Confused is purple (Extraction Speed). These colors also match Dandy's petals, just like the Stats themselves.
  • A potential Stealth-based Debuff (likely blue) has been speculated based on this color pattern. The Air Horn item and Pebble's Active Ability reduce Stealth but do not count as formal Debuffs because they do not display the Debuff icon, name, or level above a Toon's head.
  • Prior to v0.3, Twisted Shelly inflicted Confused II instead of Confused I. This nerf made Twisted Vee the only source of the II variant of any Debuff until v0.17 added Tired II and Dazed II.
  • Prior to v0.2.0, no Twisteds applied Debuffs, as they were not a mechanic in the Alpha release. Twisted Astro, Twisted Vee, and Twisted Rodger's Debuff abilities are not mentioned in their in-game descriptions because those descriptions were never updated.
  • Illness and Dazed are the only Debuffs added after the initial introduction of the Debuff system, arriving in v0.11 and v0.17 respectively.
  • Slow is the only Debuff with all three potency levels (I, II, and III) obtainable in normal gameplay.
  • The Dazed Debuff currently only exists at level II, making it the most limited Debuff in terms of potency variants.
  • The pairs Slow and Illness, and Tired and Confused, share the same potency percentages (15%/25%/50% and 25%/50%/75% respectively).
  • Illness affects Skill Check size directly without interacting with the SkillCheckSizeMultiplier stat, unlike other Debuffs which modify their corresponding stat multipliers.
  • The only logical way to obtain the Tired I Debuff is to get chased by Twisted Astro while playing as Astro, since Astro regenerates Stamina 50% faster, effectively reducing Tired III to a Tired I equivalent.
  • Glisten is the only Toon who can apply a Debuff, and he can only apply it to himself.
  • To have every Debuff type active at once, a player needs Twisted Shelly or Glisten for Confused, an Ichor Leak for Illness, and Twisted Bassie for Slow and Tired. Outside the Easter Event, Twisted Astro can substitute for Tired if the Slow from Ichor Leaks has not yet expired.
  • There used to be a bug where using a Stopwatch before the Illness Debuff expired granted a permanent Skill Check size boost. This has since been patched.
  • There used to be a bug where failing a Treadmill Machine Skill Check applied Dazed I, though it had no effect on Toons. This was fixed in v0.19.
  • Train Whistle is the first Trinket related to Debuffs, granting immunity to Slowness. Soul Sword is the first Trinket to inflict a Debuff on a Twisted.
  • Energized is currently the only Buff in the game. Movement Speed is the first Stat to have both a Debuff (Slow) and a Buff (Energized).
  • Being spotted by Twisted Astro was the only way to obtain the Tired Debuff for a long time, until the 2026 Easter Event added Spring Fever (Tired II) and Twisted Bassie's flowers (Tired II).

FAQ

Which Twisteds apply Status Effects in Dandy's World?

Six Twisteds can inflict Status Effects: Twisted Astro (Tired III), Twisted Rodger (Confused III and Slow III), Twisted Vee (Slow II), Twisted Shelly (Confused I), Twisted Finn (Slow III), and Twisted Bassie via vines (Slow II) and flowers (Slow III and Tired II).

What is the only Buff in Dandy's World?

Energized is the only Buff currently in the game. It increases Movement Speed by 25%, 50%, or 75% at levels I, II, and III respectively. It is applied exclusively by the Spring Fever Floor Event at level II, affecting both Toons and Twisteds.

Which Toons are immune to Debuffs?

Ribecca is immune to all Debuffs via her Passive Ability. Blot, Connie, Flutter, and Soulvester are immune to Illness and the Slow Debuff from Ichor Puddles specifically, as they are Ichor Leak combat or immune Toons.

Do Status Effects stack in Dandy's World?

Yes, but only multiplicatively. Two different levels of the same Debuff compound — for example, Slow II (25%) plus Slow III (50%) produces a total 62.5% Movement Speed reduction. Two identical Debuffs applied at different times do not stack; the newer one refreshes the duration. Two identical Debuffs applied simultaneously do compound.

Can you have all Debuffs active at the same time?

You can have all five Debuff types active simultaneously, but it requires specific conditions: Twisted Shelly or Glisten for Confused, an Ichor Leak for Illness, and Twisted Bassie for Slow and Tired. However, it is impossible to have every Status Effect type (including Energized) active at once because Ichor Leaks and Spring Fever cannot occur simultaneously.
